Pisang Goreng (Indonesian Fried Bananas)
Serves 25 | Estimated Time: 30 Minutes
Ingredients:
25 ripe bananas (halved lengthwise)
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp salt
4 cups cold water
Vegetable oil for frying
Optional toppings: powdered sugar or honey
Instructions:
1. Heat oil in deep pan to medium heat
2. Mix flour, sugar, salt and water to form batter
3. Dip bananas into batter
4. Fry until golden brown; drain on paper towels
5. Serve warm, optionally topped with powdered sugar or honey
Notes:
-Can be baked instead of fried at 400°F
-Close to culturally accurate meal
-Naturally vegan if honey is not used for topping; vegetarian-friendly with honey topping
